Thank you!

We’d just like to take a moment to say a massive thank you for helping us to make Devon D-Day 2018 the biggest, noisiest, most spectacular Devon D-Day we’ve held yet. Infact, it was the biggest, noisiest, most spectacular event that we’ve EVER held on Saunton Beach!

Over the course of the weekend, we were lucky enough to see a convoy of over 100 military vehicles grace the sands of Saunton, a Dakota plane glide through the skies, and 11 Auster spotter planes land on the beach.

We were also joined by fantastic re-enactment groups; American groups ‘First Wave 44’ and ‘29th Infantry Division’, the British ‘2nd Devons Battalion’, and the German ‘304th Panzer Grenadier Regiment’. History was brought to life with various living history displays; a beach obstacle demolition demonstration, a very loud beach skirmish, and numerous static historical displays.

We would like to offer our huge thanks to all the vehicle owners, pilots and re-enactors for their hard work and dedication to the event. We’d also like to extend our thanks to the volunteers and Beach staff who worked tirelessly to ensure that everything ran smoothly.

We were blown away by the turnout, and so a great big thank you goes the public for their incredible spirit and support that gave the weekend a palpable sense of excitement. A final thanks go to our partners, sponsors, and supporters: Assault Training Centre Friends, Caen Dental Practice, Christie Estates, Velofest. North Devon Public Address, Medicare and Devon Voluntary Rescue.

SAVE THE DATE!

On the weekend of 1st and 2nd June 2019, Devon D-Day will be back, and we want to smash this year’s record! If you’re interested in taking part in Devon D-Day 2019, please email sauntondday@gmail.com

We’re sure you’ll agree that it hasn’t done badly for its age! Instead, they’re hoping🤞to be able to send a Dakota, one of the most successful aircraft designs in history, at around 5pm…watch this space!!

SPITFIRE FLYPAST!
It is with great pleasure that we can now announce that the sky over Saunton will be graced with a flypast by one of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flights Spitires. This of course is even more special as it is the RAF’s 100th year. The flypast is due to take place on Saturday the 2nd June at approximately 13.45.
